Brink of Civil War

TL;DR:  If you thought this bullshit was over with 2020, think again.

Sorry for the lateness of this blog post... I thought it important to wait a bit and let the dust settle before I recklessly shoot my mouth off as many of my colleagues have done.

If you've been on social media the last couple days, you can hear the left cry out with indignant glee!  They're thinking "We've got them now, those bad, lousy, no good, very bad Trump supporters.  We can label them terrorists, just like we've done for years [albeit with softer voices] and be done with Orange Man Bad forever!"

Bad news, leftists.  What happened at the Capitol was your fault.  You did this.

  • You tried to impeach Trump BEFORE he was even inaugurated in 2016, denying he won in a fair and free election with your Russian hoax - when it was the Clintons who colluded with Russia via the Steele Dossier!
  • You've been insulting and demonizing Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters ever since Trump declared he was running for president.
  • You normalized violent protests, demonstrations, rioting, and occupying territory throughout 2020.  The media, politicians, celebrities, Big Tech, corporations, and even some law enforcement agencies gave their approval.
  • You convinced a plurality of Americans that America itself was systemically racist and then tried to fix the imaginary problem with critical race theory, defunding the police, and Green New Deal.
  • You locked everything down so people couldn't do much of anything - extremely limited socialization, entertainment, religious celebration, political organizing, and going back to work.  15 days to slow the spread has turned into 9 months of house arrest.
  • You threw away all the voting norms and safeguards we've had in place until just before the biggest and most contentious election in U.S. history.  And when Americans cried foul, you censored them, discredited them, and continued to insult them while wondering why the other half doesn't want to unify around Biden and his supporters.

I don't have any proof (aside from the anecdotal evidence one can easily find online) that the election was stolen away from Trump.  And I'm not sure why holding a political rally at that time and place was considered a good idea.  But it's also not surprising.  What did you expect would happen?

Will there be more political violence in 2021.  I hope not, but it seems likely.

A woman lost her life.  So many more people lost their lives throughout the "mostly peaceful protests" in 2020.  It all seems tragic and needless.

I don't know where the line between protesting and rioting is, anymore... what's tolerated and what isn't.  And I don't know where we go from here.  But it doesn't take a genius to see that whatever we've got going on right now isn't working.

Eventually, both sides need to come together on something (hopefully, multiple things) in order to successfully move forward into the future as a nation.  Until then, there will be chaos - the new normal.

Post-Apocalyptic Political Ad

Apparently, conservative commentator Michael Knowles starred in the best political ad ever made.

Inexplicably, it never aired.  But Michael showed it on today's youtube show.  Why in the world wasn't this plastered everywhere?  It's brilliant and, I hope, not prophetic...

[I forgot that mobile blogger won't show the video - it's right here.  Actually, Michael just put up a direct link to the video in question here]

The pro-Trump commercial starts around 34:27.  Enjoy!

Interpreting the 13 Keys

There's this predictive model to see who's going to win the USA presidential election on November 3rd 2020.  It's from Allan Lichtman's book The Keys To The Whitehouse.

Below is a video of him going over the keys for this upcoming election.  I believe his keys are right on the money... however, Allan's interpretation is wrong, wrong, wrong.  Let's watch!

[Edit: this video did not show up on my mobile device.  THIS IS THE LINK]

I'm fine with the following picks... Midterms, Primary Contest, Incumbent Re-Election, Third Party, Short-Term Economic Growth, Major Policy Changes, Social Unrest, Scandal (that's debatable - the biggest scandal was the Russian hoax, which exonerated Trump.  The media constantly tries to throw anything they can at the wall, hoping it'll stick), Foreign/Military Failures, and Uninspiring/Uncharismatic Challenger.

But let's take a look at the following three.  I believe Allan's own Democrat bias has skewed his perception, which means Trump is on target for a surefire victory!

Long-Term Economic Growth I don't think is accurate.  Up until April, the American economy was booming.  Obviously, the pandemic and our response to it screwed that up, but A) that's not Trump's fault and B) this is a snap-shot in time.  The first three years of Trump's presidency gave us the best economy America has had in a long time.

Major Foreign/Military Success - are you kidding me?  From crushing ISIS to bringing our troops home to brokering a Middle-East treaty (he was nominated multiple times for a Nobel Peace Prize for God's sake!)  Trump has had more success in that arena than Bush and Obama combined (minus the killing of Bin Laden, of course).

Charismatic Incumbent... Hell yes!  Sure, he brings out the Trump Derangement Syndrome in a lot of people.  But Trump has proved time and time again that he's a showman with star-power.  The President inspires his supporters, and will get his base out to vote.  Many of us would crawl over broken glass to vote for his re-election.  How many Biden supporters can say that?

Let me know in the comments if you agree, disagree, or just want to talk politics.

Hopefully, my current obsession with politics isn't bumming you out.  Now that I'm waiting for Cha'alt: Fuchsia Malaise (download the PDF here) to be printed and shipped, I'm taking a little time off from gaming - and the election is less than a month away.  Shortly after the election, I hope to get back to regularly scheduled posts about RPG stuff.

OSR Backs Trump

As a battle-tested creator and champion of the Old School Renaissance, I'd like to speak on its behalf.

I, Venger Satanis, am officially endorsing President Donald J. Trump.  I know that I do not speak for everyone in the OSR, but someone has to take a stand against radical leftists determined to destroy the USA.

Especially under the present circumstances (Trump and Melania's positive covid-19 test), I will say the OSR fully endorses President Trump.

Thank you for all you have done for our great nation, Mr. President!

Election Results by VS

I'm sure many people are just as sick of the post-election detox / reflection / autopsy as they were of the election itself.  Or perhaps people are craving more discussion in hopes of understanding what happened and all the many things to come.

For the record, I'd like to classify myself as an independent, but since there are really only 2 sides in the US, I find myself on the Democratic side a vast majority of the time.  And I voted for Hillary Clinton.

The following it my 3 cents.  Here's the TL;DR version: Progress is nothing if not two steps forward, one step back.

Eventually, things will be moving forward again.  This is just a temporary and necessary motion backwards.  Assuming we don't find ourselves in a nuclear war or something.  Remember all those episodes of The Twilight Zone and post-apocalyptic 80s movies?  Collectively, I believe America thought that shit was in the past.  Yet, there's a small chance that was foreshadowing an event or chain of events that will come to pass in the next 4 years.

I've been reading various blog posts such as +Kasimir Urbanski (RPGpundit) and a few others.  This election was partially a direct result of the country sick and tired of all the SJW and whining about masculine toxicity, white privilege, sexism, rape culture, LGBTQRSPV (and however many letters will eventually be added), etc.  And when peaceful protests turn into riots, including violence and destruction of property... well, that just makes your side look like the assholes you aren't, so stop it already!

As a straight white male, I feel I can see both sides.  I'm all for equality and a progressive agenda, everybody deserves a fair shake, free education and health care.  This country shits on minorities, women, homosexuals, and a lot of disenfranchised individuals and groups all the time.  It fucking sucks.

On the other hand, this new millennial-driven inclusive agenda is starting to sound a bit repetitive and shout-y, especially when it's backed up by wrong-headed activism (like trying to get Alpha Blue banned from OBS).  Everyday Americans have had enough.  For them, Trump is nostalgic.  He's their OSR, albeit in a twisted, negative, and ridiculous way.  It sucks, but I can't blame them for wanting to keep the US recognizable from their perspective.

I don't know.  I can't predict the future.  However, that won't stop me from prognosticating right here and now...

  • No one will know how it's all going to turn out.  I have a feeling it won't just be liberals and a few "never trump" conservatives who will be disappointed.  Trump is the wild card of wild cards, and any Trump voter/supporter who thinks he knows what he's getting is most likely in for a surprise.

  • A lot of giddy, gloating, sore winner Republicans will out themselves as pieces of vile filth and will either lose their jobs or be forced to endure an unpleasant backlash they weren't expecting.  Actually, it's already happening.

  • I believe this victory will actually propel the United States into a new progressive age.  If Republicans get their way with majorities in the executive, judicial, and legislative branches, it will give Americans a true taste of what they ordered - and it will eventually sicken them to the point where Republicanism is about as popular as neo-Nazi and KKK organizations are today.

Ok, I've probably said enough on this topic.  If anyone wants to talk politics or whatever, feel free.  I try to be open minded while still holding onto my own beliefs, independent of the two major political parties.

p.s.  One more thing, for what it's worth, Bernie Sanders might have won (if he'd been the Democratic nominee), but he's too far left for the United States (at this time).  So, if he did become our next President, we might have gone two steps forward and three steps back.
