Volume one of SHADOW-CHA'ALT is now live (and the preview is actually working). Here's the DriveThru link.
What is it? An introductory adventure that lowers the temperature on gonzo, sleaze, and pop-culture references. This is the perfect scenario for novice and veteran GMs to get their tentacles wet.
It's system-neutral OSR, based gaming at its best. Use it with Advanced Crimson Dragon Slayer, ShadowDark, or any number of traditional old-school D&D rule-sets.
This will hopefully turn into a series that explores and plays around with a number of OSR conventions, including ShadowDark and Cha'alt. SHADOW-CHA'ALT volume two will have revised mechanics for light sources and fumbling around in the dark.

DeleteI think it's cool to see you revisit some of your more grimdark fantasy stuff. I guess it makes some sense to appeal to Shadowdark fans by offering compatibility, but your products were always compatible with most OSR products anyway and your strength has always been to do your own thing. I hope the other volumes show off your own ideas and are front and center. You can never appeal to everyone, so if you're making what excites you, you've hit the mark.

Yeah, I've very rarely done anything in my creative life that doesn't excite me to some degree. Recalibrating my passion, for this series at least, is all part of the process. But don't worry, there will be plenty more inappropriate sewer trash of sleaze and cosmic horror and gonzo to keep you warm this winter and beyond! ;)
