So, what's this all about?
One or more people, most likely radical-leftists, went to tabletop events in order to get my convention shut down or at least removed from their platform.
I have the email if anyone wants to read it. Just ask: Venger.Satanis@yahoo.com
On what grounds would VENGER CON be removed from the tabletop events platform? "Sexually explicit" and "hateful or otherwise objectionable" material found on this here blog which I linked to in the banners and website.
I replied back, asking for them to specifically tell me what material from my blog went against their code of conduct. If I have to, I'll ditch the links to my blog. Regardless, this isn't going to deter me from putting on an awesome gaming convention.
While it's still up, grab yourself a ticket (limited to 100 attendees). Join us! The goal of VENGER CON is a return to normalcy and celebration of gaming's golden age - old-school, OSR, and traditional RPGs. You won't see rooms full of board and card games, nor an expansive dealer hall full of retailers. VENGER CON is for paper & pencil RPGs!
The more they want to shut VENGER CON down, the more I want it to happen. Remember, we're still fighting a culture war. A certain segment of the RPG community, hobby, and industry would love nothing better than to shut the OSR down - especially, if it also brings down individuals that pushback against their authoritarian agenda.
Thanks for your support,
VS
That sucks! I kind of thought it might happen, though, unfortunately. They're jerks. I've reading "Woke Racism" by John McWhorter, a black academic. He considers Woke to be an evangelical religion.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've mentioned the Church of Secular Progressivism before... think I got that from Michael Knowles. Most woke activists are like religious zealots.
DeleteIf not careful, we eventually become what we fight against.
SOMETIMES, people fight against something because they want to sit in that thing's chair and drink that thing's milkshake. It's not always about morality as much as it is clout or materialism. Some people justcan't feel good until they get the chance to say, " Vae victus!" to the very people who invited them in.
DeleteHaters be hatin'...
DeleteI won't be able to attend, but can I donate anyway? Are there T-shirts to buy? How 'bout one that reads:
ReplyDelete"I SUPPORTED VENGER CON AND BLATANTLY FLOUTED THE THOUGHT INQUISIORS."
I won't say "Thought Police" because I work in law enforcement and don't want these fragile, easily agitated, crybaby jerkwads associated with my profession, which most of those people seem to unfairly malign.
Tell these people to leave you alone and concern themselves only with their My Little Pony LARP furryfests. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I don't judge, so they shouldn't either.
Thanks for the comment, hoss!
DeleteHmm... if you are unable to attend yourself, maybe you could sponsor a gamer who could attend but lack the funds? Either that or you could purchase some books. I still have Cha'alt hardcovers! ;)
Dave Bendit is a sorry individual.
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteI already have your hardcovers and await the next installment.
ReplyDeleteDo you know of a nice, deserving person who could be sponsored? Maybe someone's going but bringing their spouse, child, demonspawn, autonomous severed appendage, etc. would be too costly?
Do you only have three day passes? That might be hard for some people during these inflationary times, especially if they're not from that area and require rooms too.
Not off the top of my head. I could do a blog post giveaway and randomly roll the winner... or just wait and see.

DeleteWho, me?
ReplyDeleteJust cause this is your most recent post here,I wanted to say that Im digging the current changes you made in Crimson Dragon Slayer d20.
ReplyDeleteGiving the Cleric some limits is nice. I know the change you made with the Healing Invocation is one you used before, but I like the hit point cost on Eldritch Beam and the variable, scaleable damage too.
Having these limits helps build some tension. Also, potentially limiting the healing makes the Sorcerer more cautious and less likely to serve as a mobile battle station.
In addition, I appreciate the static triple rolled damage for the Thief. It was crazy before how the Sorcerer had the option of invising the Thief and dropping a "backstab bomb" on the mobs! I mean a d6+ level(+ any bonuses) ×4 can get outright UGLY!
Anyhoo, I know you primarily designed CDS for one offs, but these changes + Crimson Escalation make the light ruleset even more feasible for folks who just want to run a simple campaign and concentrate on telling/sharing stories and having fun!
P.S. Im hoping Encounter Critical is still percolating in that twisted, wonderful mind of yours! 😁
Thank you for the feedback, hoss! I was going to ask folks in that last KS update, but there was already so much information that I didn't want the Crimson Dragon Slayer D20 revision to get lost in the shuffle.
DeleteI felt that a few minor tweaks would be better than a fundamental change.
Thank you for the Great News!!!
ReplyDeleteJust watched your video. I am not a regular reader of your blog so (even being a lefty myself) I can’t really say what was found to be objectionable. I hope that they give you an answer.
ReplyDeleteIf it’s just a matter of taking down the link from their site…well you can still direct your regulars there from here, right? A one-way portal? Does it need to go both ways?
The con itself doesn’t sound objectionable…and if it’s 18+ consenting adults can make their own decisions whether they want to play old school games in a “no safety net” environment. Some people, I’m sure, will dig it…others will pass. But isn’t that the whole point of hobby cons?
Anyway. Hopefully things get sorted for you.
Thanks for the comment, hoss!
DeleteAdmittedly, my blog has spicy elements. What's really appalling is that a gamer who had no interest in attending wanted to hassle Venger Con and myself just because my politics are center-right.
But that's where we are. They just dis the exact same thing with TSR Con. My blog was linked on their page because I'll be running games this March. Nevertheless, onward and upward!
